No day is just another day at Halley Primary! Today, Phoenix and Lyra class were visited by two players from the BBC Symphony orchestra for a musical experience like no other! We left feeling truly inspired.

We met a real life author! Her name is Anna Woltz and we explored her book ‘Talking to Alaska’. We even each received a signed copy! Anna also helped us to write our own stories too…

In our history lessons, we have been exploring the abolition of slavery. Ask us about the chronology of key events that led to the abolition of this terrible trade that Britain and other European nations prospered from. Ask us what exploitation means too!

Today, Lyra class found out how humans have been making cotton clothing and string for thousands of years. We had a go at stripping a stem and then creating a piece of string from plant fibre.

Lyra class found out all about levers, gears and pulleys when visiting the Soane Centre on our science trip.

Lyra class have now completed our Take One Picture project! Maybe our artwork will be chosen to be displayed at the National Portrait gallery.

Our last day as Lyra class… 🤪😎🥳🥹 After all our hard work, we took our last PE session to the park to play cricket. We ,Amy have accidentally played on the climbing frame too. Happy summer everyone. Lyra class signing out.

Lyra class got our hands dirty for our plant workshop session. We took cuttings and planted seeds to see if we can make plants reproduce in two different ways: sexual reproduction (planting coriander and lettuce seeds) and asexual reproduction (rosemary, mint and thyme cuttings).

Thank you to Mulberry Stepney Green Secondary School for hosting Lyra Class for a science taster day. We loved holding fire and learning about endothermic and exothermic reactions.
