So our neighbor is a great kid and he knows I love having turkeys, but he asked “hey, in my stand every time I see a turkey they jump the fence and go into your pasture … can I get it if it’s there?” I’d never know if he did anyway but asking shows a level of respect and consideration that few have these days. So we authorized him to shoot turkeys and ducks on the pond and pastures that are close … and he just got his first (just over the fence). A perpetually dissatisfied neighbor who heard the shot called the game warden on him. Fortunately our warden is awesome, so he snapped a pic with the the kid and his totally legal take. Kid had everything set. Good people deserve nature’s rewards.

Neighbor called and said she was hearing a huge pack of coyotes on our north place. Wife and I grabbed rifles and headed that way. There was a 3/4 ton Ford across the road by our gate. Rear tires in the ditch. Stuck AF. I got out and saw the old fellow driving had dementia. He didnt know how to lock his front hubs. I locked them up and he pulled right out. I unlocked them and got him on the road. Saw no coyotes. All is well. I'm back in bed with Shelby Foote.

The reason the United States had to basically quit its incredible, iconic moon program and spend the next 40 years futzing around on a vestigial "ISS" doing high school-level science experiments is because the government had to come up with massive budget cuts to fund the mass importation and cradle-to-grave benefits of ~50 million noncitizens.
