When we adopted her at 3 months old, she came with a virus, herpes, ulcers, the full nightmare welcome package. She could barely open her eyes. We honestly didn’t know if we were bringing home a pet or a goodbye. That first month was not degen, it was hospital mode. Medicine schedules, vet visits, cleaning her eyes every few hours, cheering for small wins like “she ate a little” or “she tried to play once.”
