I just spoke with President @NicusorDanRO of Romania about the Russian drone that hit a residential building in Galati. I assured him of NATO’s absolute solidarity with Romania and expressed sympathy for those injured in the incident. I affirmed that NATO stands ready to defend every inch of Allied territory. We will continue to enhance our readiness to deter and defend against any threat, including from drones. Russia’s reckless behaviour is a danger to us all. They continue to target civilians and civilian infrastructure across Ukraine. And last night showed yet again that the implications of their illegal war of aggression don’t stop at the border. Russia’s war needs to end, as does Russia’s disregard for civilian safety. For our part, we will continue to strengthen our deterrence and defence at home and continue our support for Ukraine as they defend against Russia’s aggression.

🇳🇱The Netherlands has never blocked a 🇺🇸US deal. Kyndryl's €100M was first. Kyndryl is a US company spun out of IBM. It tried to buy a Dutch firm called Solvinity. Solvinity runs DigiD, the login millions of Dutch people use. They use it for taxes, healthcare, and pensions. A US law lets American agencies demand data from US companies. If you log in with DigiD, your most private data was at stake. So the Netherlands decided that the system was not for sale for a US bidder. Is the growing mistrust of US tech companies going to become a more structural obstacle for US investment in 🇪🇺EU: A) Yes; B) No?

🇺🇦 Ukrainian tennis player Oleksandra Oliynykova scored her first-ever win over a russian opponent at Roland Garros and then openly spoke about double standards in WTA. “Many russian athletes actively participate in propaganda, play in Gazprom-linked tournaments, and openly support Putin,” she said after the match. Oliynykova also revealed that she had been pressured by the WTA for months over her public statements about russian players and the war. According to her, officials demanded she stop mentioning certain athletes by name and threatened her with fines and even disqualification.

Wij voetbalden toen op straat in Iran en iedereen wilde Gullit zijn. Voor ons was hij geen Nederlander met iets erachter. Hij wás Oranje. Maar gisteravond bij Pauw & De Wit zag je opnieuw hoe Nederland soms naar zijn eigen mensen kijkt. Wat buiten Nederland zonder aarzeling als Nederlands wordt herkend, moet hier eerst langs de afkomstcontrole. Altijd weer die zeef. Daarom zijn woorden als “omvolking” en “remigratie” zo giftig. Ze blijven niet in het migratiedebat hangen, maar tasten het burgerschap zelf aan. Mensen die hier al decennia wonen, werken, belasting betalen, kinderen grootbrengen en dit land meedragen, worden teruggeduwd naar een vraag die allang beantwoord had moeten zijn. Hoor je hier wel echt bij? Gullit hoefde zich voor niemand opnieuw te bewijzen. Miljoenen Nederlanders met een familiegeschiedenis buiten Nederland zouden dat ook niet hoeven. Politici die deze taal de Kamer in brengen, maken van burgerschap geen gedeeld feit, maar een permanente toets. Ze lossen geen probleem op. Ze dwingen Nederlanders opnieuw uit te leggen waarom zij bij hun eigen land horen.

He cut lifetimes for millions and the result is a silent massacres. Nor should we forget his complicity in the genocide in Gaza, as well as in the war in Ukraine and the Epstein case. I don’t understand how billionaires think. If I only had one billion dollars, I would rush to fix our world problem. Homeless, hungry, poverty, wars, climate change... etc. They can be heroes and not just billionaires. What a waste.
