@clashreport Calling it a ceasefire while one side can still strike makes it complicated. It sounds more like a pause with conditions than a true truce

Lebanon's 10 Day Ceasefire Begins But Israel Can Strike at Will
A newly announced Israel-Lebanon ceasefire has halted fighting as displaced Lebanese begin returning home, but the terms effectively allow Israel to continue striking inside Lebanon at will, raising questions over whether the truce signals real de-escalation.

@clashreport sounds like a shift toward pragmatic diplomacy. Less focus on punishment, more on bringing partners back into alignment strategically.

US Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack:
The question on S-400s… For those of you who don’t know, Türkiye, after the coup, bought a Russian defense system.
There was a variance in opinion—were we not willing to sell them Patriots, or could they not buy Patriots, but they bought an S-400 system.
At the time, Türkiye was also the second-largest NATO ally. This is huge. When you think of what that means and what Türkiye is doing to protect Europe, it’s incredible.
They wanted to contribute to the F-35 jet program and, as a matter of fact, were a partner in manufacturing fuselages. When they bought the S-400, Congress then imposed sanctions.
Sanctions… in my humble opinion… they don’t work. The sanctioned country becomes so smart, so ingenious, they figure out ways around them. They went off the F-35 system.
President Trump and President Erdogan… sat down.
Halkbank is now fine. F-16s — renegotiating again. The alliance… is being rebuilt.
I think you’re going to see this S-400 situation solved soon.
From my boss’s point of view, acceptance into an F-35 program is fine.
Greece has S-300s and F-35s. So, that the the Greece-Türkiye issue is you know, another historic issue.
I won't even attempt to get there because they'll they'll forbid me to ever go to Mykonos again.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha:
We have a good example, Türkiye. Now, as far as I remember they cover up to 80% of the needs of their army.
That's a true miracle, how Türkiye scaled up defense industry.
It means we should become more self-sufficient to reduce dependence on critical materials, on critical elements of weaponry, to scale up national defense industries.
Now Ukraine could cover 40% of the needs for our army.

@clashreport In reality, most international aid comes with conditions. It’s hard to separate assistance from politics, especially in complex regions like this

Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa:
Syria has not received direct aid until this moment. However, there were promises of aid, and many investment contracts were also made, including memoranda of understanding and contracts that have started on the ground and entered the field of work.
So, I believe that this policy is what Syria is moving towards at this time. But nevertheless, Syria needs some assistance to move faster and more steadily. But we try to rely on ourselves in the first place, and if aid comes, it should not be politicized or conditioned.
