It's spring 2024, and we're proud of our progress at Healthy Learners. We've expanded our team and added vehicles to reach more students in under-resourced communities. Our mission continues, fueled by our dedication to ensuring every student has the support they need to succeed.

One of my favorite AmeriCorps moments of the year was while coordinating an appointment for student a parent stopped me and gave Healthy Learners many praises about how helpful the program has been for their family.

I have served as an AmeriCorps member with Healthy Learners for three years. It has been fulfilling to meet the needs of students and ensure their well-being so that they no longer struggle to be who they are.

Healthy Learners is empowering change and fostering mental health awareness! Kathy Wilbur and Jaylen Conyers led an impactful Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) session for the incredible YMCA staff. Together, we're breaking stigmas and building a supportive community.

A highlight of working with Healthy Learners has been seeing all the students' reactions after getting their glasses for the first time. I remember delivering glasses to a 1st grader and him rushing to open the door to the nurse's office after we called him down from class.

Today is the National Day of Unplugging. In May 2023, the Surgeon General warned about the harmful effects of social media on youth mental health.
