Born and raised in Lagos, went to school in Lagos and was by far top 3 of the brightest students in my class in Araromi Government secondary school Orile. I've always been the class prefect for my class from JSS2 till SS1, this was simply because I was intelligent, good at my job and represented well. It was in SS2 first term and my class was going to be merged with another SS2 class and there was need to simply re-elect an overall class prefect since it's now a conjoined class, all my class mates clamored that I should continue to lead them, guess what the other guy used to campaign? He bluntly called my class mates "eyin Omo ale" for allowing "Omo ibo" to be leading them while majority of them were Yorubas. Chaos erupted in class that day and needed the intervention of my school principal to calm things down. Despite the fact that I could speak, read, and write perfectly well in Yoruba, I experienced my first tribal discrimination that day and also witnessed sensible Yorubas fight for me because I was competent. So when I see what goes on here on this timeline in the name of Tribal fight, I tell myself that there are still sensible people among us who care less about tribe, and are only interested in competence and results. If we're to get the issue of leadership right in Nigeria, we must stop allowing these Politicians play the tribal card on us every single year leading to an election.
