A passenger complaint regarding worm found in food items served in Train No. 21896 (PNBETATA Vande Bharat Express) was reported on 15.03.2026 which has been viewed very seriously by the Board. This incident reflects lack of proper supervision on the part of IRCTC. Considering the gravity of the lapses, the Competent Authority has decided to impose a fine of Rs 10 lakhs on IRCTC for such deficiency in services. Further, IRCTC is advised to ensure strict monitoring of onboard services so as to prevent any such incident in future: Railways
