An unpopular hill I will die on: The drastic downturn in alcohol consumption is a bad thing. Yes, booze isn’t good for you. But this means people are less social, and barely interacting with each other. Millions of healthy marriages were formed from going to the bar and flirting with each other. I know mine was.

I built the Honest Cooking app to be your daily companion in the kitchen, whether that is to help you decide what to cook tonight, to teach you the basic recipes you need, or just to be an allround source of food inspiration. I do have a particular soft spot for the pantry search function though. It's for those days when you have ingredients you want to use, but you don't know what to cook with them. @Hotshot_Movie 1) Wine has gotten very expensive at restaurants, even mediocre ones. The barrier to entry is prohibitively high for younger people. 2) Other drugs are cheaper, and have been very good at marketing themselves as "healthier" (dubious claims), which appeals to this crowd..

Are people abstaining to be healthier? Or is everyone just alone at home on their phones and not out socializing over drinks?

Instead of sending Slack messages to your colleagues, you'd stop by their office. You'd type out memos for the whole team. You'd call customers instead of setting up automated emails. You'd spend zero time on social media, instead you'd talk to people. You'd have face to face meetings. You'd write things yourself, on your typewriter, and pass it on to whomever needed it. Folders with documents would be passed around the office, with the names of the people who should see them on the front. Once someone had browsed the folder, they'd cross out their name, and send it on to the next person (a mailroom worker would pick it up from the outbox and deliver). You'd fill out forms, use paperclips, staplers, and you'd make copies of things that were important. You'd go for lunch with your colleagues. You'd bring stacks of paperwork home and bring them back in the morning. You'd smoke in your office, some offices would have a bar-cart on Fridays. You'd have to wait for mail responses from clients or other partners, sometimes for weeks. You'd travel to meet with people.

Kimchi & Pork Belly Fried Rice! Weeknights are tricky sometimes. People have places to go, kids have after school activities, partners are trying to juggle groceries, and you're left with the responsibility to come up with something that's both delicious, quick, and doesn't feel like an afterthought. One of my favorite “chaos-day-go-to's” is fried rice. With almost anything. Seafood, chicken, beef, whatever I have on hand. Just switch main protein depending on your fridge and your vibe that day. If there is one activity I love as much as I love cooking, it's definitely skiing. The mountains have always felt like home to me, even as I have lived most of my life in big cities or by the beach, and I truly feel “homesick” after more than a few months away from snow-clad peaks. One of my absolute favorite things to cook and eat when I am in the mountains is Tartiflette - the French alpine potato gratin that is as decadent as it is rich. It's beautifully rustic, with BIG flavors, and it is the perfect meal after a long day on the slopes.
