@Hopeeleftheria @morena_mar2586 as for your slander about genocidal heritage go read about the Armenian gangs that raided defenseless Turkish villages behind the frontlines and the Greek atrocities that burned down western anatolia

Los teatros romanos son lo primero. En segundo lugar, no vamos a pedir permiso a los griegos, con su pasado de esclavitud y colonialismo, para utilizar los que se encuentran en nuestros propios países; callaos si no son vuestros. .,
well-meaning@FreshSummerWind

Watching the World Cup in ancient Greek theaters shows not culture, but disrespect. Civilized nations protect humanity’s heritage instead of turning sacred monuments into entertainment venues. True civilization honors history.

@veridisquote @morena_mar2586 4. Furthermore, u are not satisfied with the damage you caused. You want more. The "blue homeland" agenda is a current strategy for expansion against Greece. How do you expect the Greeks to stay silent? Every time we do, you try to shut us down instead of listening and addressing

@morena_mar2586 It's a Hellenistic theatre based on Greek culture. It's not part of turkish culture, which has one of the biggest genocidal heritages. We have every right to voice our opinions. You are culturally misappropriating the site. You have no cultural authority on this so u can shut up.

@Ayran_Enjoyer 2. The eastern Empire outlasted the western, when Rome was invaded by Germanic tribes. Later, it shaped all of European & western culture, when the Byzantines fled the ottoman invasion. This is why western culture is founded upon the Greek. It was Greeks who shaped it.

The greatest irony in modern Greek nationalism is that its supporters keep trying to claim an empire that spent 1,000 years insisting it was not Greek. The so-called “Byzantine Empire” never called itself Byzantine. It called itself the Roman Empire. Its people called themselves Romans (Romaioi). Its emperors called themselves Roman Emperors. Its laws were Roman law. Its state was the direct continuation of Rome. Even the word “Hellene” was avoided for centuries because it was associated with paganism. Yes, the empire spoke Greek. It used Greek literature. It was culturally Hellenized. But speaking Greek did not make someone Greek any more than speaking English makes an Indian, Nigerian, or Australian English. If you walked into Constantinople in the year 1000 and called the emperor “Greek,” he would have corrected you immediately: “I am Roman.” The Byzantine Empire was not a Greek state that happened to inherit Rome. It was the Roman Empire that happened to speak Greek. Modern Greeks inherited part of its culture and language, but they did not create it, rule all of it, or define its identity. For a thousand years the empire itself settled the question. It called itself Rome.

@Ayran_Enjoyer 1. You uneducated fool. The Eastern Roman Empire was founded and run by ethnic Greeks. They called themselves Roman because they were part of the greater Roman empire, and this was a political strategy to signal status and power

@UcmaSerkan @EnsedeCiencia Its a real tragedy that the current day inhabitants of this land know nothing about its past. Or pretend not to know. They just say "shared culture" as a catch all to claim the credit. Either that, or they name all cultures other than Greek. I wonder why!

Este teatro romano se usaba para tragedias y gladiadores; hoy acoge fútbol con la misma pasión caótica de hace siglos.

Hellenistic is a time frame and an artistic-cultural period, not proof of modern national ownership. Antiphellos was in Lycia. Its Lycian name was Habesos or Habesa, and it belonged to the ancient Lycian world before later Hellenistic and Roman layers. A later Greek name does not erase the Anatolian layer beneath it. Ancient theatres in Türkiye are not dead museum objects. They are still used for concerts, performances, and public gatherings under cultural management, because they were built for collective audiences. Heritage should be protected, but being used according to its original purpose does not denigrate it.

@EvrenSAuthor Its a Hellenistic theatre with a Greek name. Everything about it is Greek. Unfortunately it's not only open for cultural &musical events which are appropriate, but also for watching sunsets &major sporting events. This denigrates it's value and poses risks of damage
