Pinnacle High School canceled an on campus appearance by Turning Point USA leader Erika Kirk after a surge of complaints from students and parents who refused to accept a political stunt during school hours. Principal Jeremy Richards told families the event was being moved off campus and pushed until after the final bell, warning it could disrupt the school day and create serious issues. Students spoke clearly: - “I don’t know why she’s coming here, to be honest,” Francisco Sanchez, a senior at Pinnacle High School, told 12 News Phoenix before the event was moved. "It’s a little crazy because I would never have expected someone like her to show up at a high school. I think the topics that she talks about are too extremist for a school. He worked at an Amazon warehouse. He loved cars, video games, UFC fights. He was the light of his family’s home. He went to South Padre Island to celebrate his birthday. He never came back. ________________________________________ On March 15th, 2025—just after midnight—Ruben and his best friend came upon an accident scene on South Padre Island. There had been a crash. Local police were there. So were federal agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), which operates under ICE. Not responding to a violent crime. Not stopping a terrorist. They were directing traffic. ________________________________________ What happened next lasted seconds. ICE agents surrounded Ruben’s car. They shouted conflicting commands—one telling him to move forward and another telling him to stop. One agent moved to his window. Another moved near the front of the vehicle—the controversial “Death Box” tactic, placing himself directly in the car’s path. And then— An ICE supervisor fired three shots into Ruben’s chest. No standoff. No chase. No escalation. Up until now, Trump has avoided insulting Leo directly despite the pope's vocal criticisms of his Iran War and his brutal treatment of migrants. Over the weekend, Leo again slammed the war and blamed it on a "delusion of omnipotence" while calling for an immediate end to the conflict. Clearly, this time his message struck a nerve. "I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA," Trump continued. "He gets it, and Leo doesn’t! I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. It's a 2000-year-old institution, older than MAGA, older than the United States itself. Popes are chosen to shepherd the faithful towards Jesus Christ, not to pander to American presidents. Not only that, but Catholics believe that the Holy Spirit helps guide the papal election through the College of Cardinals. In his hubris and rage, Trump is spitting on ancient, sacred beliefs. "Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested," Trump wrote. "Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. Ironically, Trump is the one filtering these issues through a political lens. Leo is not being a politician. He's being a Christian. He's defending migrants and innocent people being torn apart by American bombs because it's the right thing to do, even if it means incurring the rage of Republicans. As for Trump's claim that Leo is hurting the Church, in reality it's flourishing under his leadership. This past Easter, Catholic parishes saw a massive influx of new converts. The average diocese reported a 38% increase compared to last year. In some places those numbers were even more dramatic. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles saw a 139% increase. Perhaps that's why Trump is so angry at Leo. As the MAGA movement implodes under the weight of an unpopular war launched on Israel's behalf and a worsening Epstein scandal, the Catholic Church under this new pope is blossoming into an era of spiritual rebirth.
