Coach Prime’s style could work. The hype and attention around his program is unmatched. There’s power in that. But they need to start winning games, and quickly. People will see a coach’s arrogance as expertise or delusion, depending on if he’s winning games.

@NickHerrinBSB Yeah. It’s been mind boggling to watch your front office work. They put on this facade of trying to win but don’t make any meaningful long-term impacting moves, especially when it comes to the pitching staff.

The end result of a decade of off-season half-measures. Got away with it for a lot longer than they should have been able to. That’s over, though. This is the new normal until something changes. Can’t lie, I love it. Proud St. Louisan here.

@Seth_3773 We are in a very selfish era of baseball. Nothing outrages me more when I ask for a bunt and the kid flat out says no. “College coaches aren’t here to watch me bunt” Maybe not, but they are here to see if you’re willing to do what it takes for the TEAM to win.

Okay again let’s just assume I understand baseball. Here’s the education I’m going to give you. Putting the ball in play is better than striking out. People with your view point are ASSuming that I’m taking the bat out of a kids hand who would otherwise get a hit or productivity put the ball in play. I’d love not to bunt. I’d love to have the personnel to say, go get ‘em boys, I’ll wave you around third with a high five. No sir… I have to produce runs, and produce pressure on the defense due to the fact our guys are still struggling to consistently put the ball in play.

Watching college baseball and seeing guys wear their play cards on their belt, and there is zero downside. Yet it is banned in HS baseball, and I have yet to hear a decent explanation.

This is Bad. D3 Students deserve better! A student athlete reached out to me yesterday. He didn’t know how to respond. This is bad. This is really bad. If I was a baseball coach (any type coach) at @AMCAT_Baseball I would be having a very firm conversation with James Duggan and his inappropriate way to speak to and belittle student athletes. Sorry you didn’t go pro Duggan don’t take it out on the kids. @SportWriter2 @coachcasey13u It’s sounds like you’re the type of parent who would have his kid miss the optional team lift on Christmas. That’s wayyyy too close to the season to be taking off days.

Currently at the hospital visiting one of my 13 players after an incident at practice. He tried bunting the first pitch of his bp round so I drilled him with some chin music. Great coaching moment for me on small ball. Also kicked him off the team. #BeElite

I now wonder where legal intervention in HS sports is headed? Will a blown call in a MSHSAA playoff game lead to a lawsuit by the parents on grounds of pain, suffering & deprivation of scholarship chances by not advancing? Can of worms opened; attorneys circling like sharks.

While it truly sucks to be punished for doing a good deed for their community, the MSHSAA rule isn't new & is very clear - no in-season participation in your same sport. Someone at Houston High dropped the ball. I hope we stop running to lawyers whenever we disagree w/the rules.
