Barfing pumpkins! Students and teachers carved pumpkins together then set off elephant toothpaste inside (even had some pumpkin pi) #chemistryiscool@IDEACenterHS
When life gives you molemons, you make molemonade! This week we learned about mole conversions by making lemonade with just the right number of moles of sugar 🍋 @IDEACenterHS
Did you know aluminum cans have plastic linings? Using lye (in a fume hood because you produce hydrogen gas), you can dissolve the Al and leave just the plastic! @IDEACenterHS
Fun Lab Friday at @IDEACenterHS! Students are looking at the physical and chemical properties of the elements that make up the human body! (Pictured is the melting point of iodine)
Biology students were able to make fermented pickles today. They relished the experience!
We also used class-grown herbs from our Lettuce Grow Farmstand, which was a big dill! 🥒
Busy day for ICHS Science! We learned about thermodynamics in Chemistry with an ice cream lab, then ended the day with a pig dissection with our STEM Club! pic.twitter.com/taTClxZlvN
@LettuceGrowXTFP donated this amazing hydroponic system to our science department! The kids have been so fascinated as we set it up. We can't wait to teach sustainable farming in APES and use it in our projects for bio and chem in Q4! Exciting things are coming 🎉
Another successful showcase for ICHS! Biology & Chemistry students were able to show off their Funky Ferments Project (homemade cheeses, lacto-fermented pickles, rootbeer, and yogurt) and all the wonderful learning they've done.
@IDEACenterHS STEM Club designed a lab safety gingerbread for the @ExploreLearning Gingerneering Challenge! (Lab Safety Carol even made a cameo.) So proud of their hard work! #ELgingerneering
