I have been sharing the units I have created over the years quite a bit over the last few months. With new teachers, with teachers to be, and now with parents teaching their own kids at home. Here they all are in one place. Free for the taking. wanderingwhy2017.wordpress.com @OT_FED

Advice for Trump: Canadians are the reason the Geneva Convention got updated. We're not nice and polite all the time. Advice for journalists: If Trump is talking about Canada it's because he doesn't want you asking good questions about other things like his campaign promises..

Huh... I just realized that the Canadian version of maga is McGA. Somewhat descriptive and fitting, no?

@mathdemigod @Dean_of_math "...by making it so students don't care about anything other than points." And they even learn how to maximize those points with safe strategies.

@IainBro @Dean_of_math Absolutely false. Grades inhibit learning, in my experience, by making it so students don't care about anything other than points.

If we took away “grades”, would your learners take on the challenges you’re giving to them?

@teach_n_travel I love my local independent grocers. All of them have live butchers and fishmongers, and most also have a Halal butcher. The produce is also good, too. The prices are great.

@teach_n_travel Kostas is the best. Used to live nearby and went there all the time.

@JBradshaw01 I totally understood the nuance of the OP and would agree. Perhaps it could have been phrased differently, but Jason clarified. Twitter is not a place where nuance is appreciated. Part of why I am on here so little now.

Not trying to throw shade, but maybe educators who sincerely say, "thank goodness I only have x years left" should consider looking into leaving the profession now. This work might not be good for them or their students if they're just bidding their time for their pension.

@redsnoopy69 Luckily, along with his freedom of expression, I have the freedom of not having to listen to his crap if I don't want to.

@MrZachG I'm unaware of a lot of things. It doesn't mean they are not happening. Also just promoting something doesn't mean it's happening either. Or to what extent.

I’m unaware of a school in my area that promotes explicit instruction, an academic knowledge-rich curriculum, and high standards of behavior. That’s got to be a problem, right?

@TeachMeOntario @MrZachG You know . . . there is no such thing as discovery learning but three-part lessons can actually be awful - depending on who is creating them.

@MrZachG They’re out there and more will come. Partly due to the shift away from Balanced Literacy to Structured Literacy. It’s happening in Math now too with Ontario’s new curriculum (and moving away from the God awful three-part math lesson and discovery learning.)
