First and foremost, apologies to all of the friends and companies that have messaged during the past month. I owe you the courtesy of that as i've not been active here at all and never replied to most of you. I hope no one took it personally. It's just been a lot to process, but I deeply appreciate each and everyone that has taken the time. My dad has been dealing with dementia for the past 3+ years or so. It's just one of those things that you never really realize how far along he is until you are there to catch for the first time what he forgot or has trouble doing. The first time he asked me who I was occurred about a month ago. Coming to terms with the fact that he could forget his own son while face to face was a new level of realization of how real and how unforgiving it all is. My mother the same week got results back in from a CT scan on a bump she noticed on her collarbone a couple weeks prior. Pulmonologist said highly likely lung cancer as they found more masses in her right lung and neck, and on top of all of that fucked up news, he also says she has pretty severe pulmonary fibrosis. She had just recently started having a hard time catching her breath doing daily activities and chores around the house, but previous check-ups and concerns never amounted to more than her doctors telling us she needs more physical activity and exercise at her age. So, i've been here for whatever they need and I plan to be here with them for as long as I can. More exams, scans and a biopsy are scheduled, i'm making sure their nutrition and daily needs are met, we are going out and sweating and getting sun daily, we are trying to take in all of the good days and stay positive and strong through the bad. There have been many times i've put off visiting them when I should have because I got caught up in things that felt more important at the time, but I feel dumb looking back. You hear it all too often, and it's easy to write off as words to live by but never do. It's also entirely easy to not understand the full impact of another's situation because we are all just floating around in our own thoughts and realities. But cherish the good times with your loved ones and let them know you love them. That being said, I will be back to content at some point as I owe that to some wonderful companies and products, but I can't say when exactly. We will see.🙏
