1/1 Before everything in my working career I was a poet. Inspired by Urdu/Punjabi shayari, Liverpool beat poetry and US and UK hip hop. I was one of the first South Asian performance poets on the scene from 1984 onwards. #Shayari #Poetry #Hiphop

2/2 I made my name in Manchester and worked all over the country performing with the likes of @lemnsissay Linton Kwesi Johnson, Benjamin Zephaniah and in more recent years Akala. As you get older you start thinking and writing in different ways and modes.
