how many actual sculptors do you know? I know quite a few and many of them actually picked up Zbrush. their skills transfer over. artists are very capable of adapting to new tech and digital sculpting was a way for them to explore their medium digitally. it gave them more work opportunities in an evolving world and many of them still sculpt traditionally as well. they had no issue with adapting to good new revolutionary tech. But guess what, they also hate AI. because it sucks!

@IsThisA3DModel You know actual sculptors hate “3D artists”, right? imagine what a marble sculptor thinks of a person using Blender complaining about AI

A lot of traditional sculptors were put into a position where they had to learn digital sculpting to keep their jobs. The difference was, digital sculpting as a tech didn't make them obsolete, it was just their medium in a digital form. Adapting actually made sense in that context and many of them did so because artists are badass and adaptable. GenAI just sucks and there's nothing worth adapting to.

@IsThisA3DModel Why would sculptors care about a completely different medium of art? It's not like anyone's trying to replace sculptures. That's like saying painters hate claymation No one's going "Michelangelo is cooked" when they post their 3D models

So your answer is that the physical sculptors should just adapt or get over it? Your answer is that marble sculptors just don’t exist any more, right? Artists skilled in their preferred medium can translate their skills to AI. Same logic. Maybe you don’t like the “theft” aspect, but that’s a different convo, right?

My main goal in life is to help people be better modelers and artists. I've been sharing what I've learned over the past two decades and hope it's put to good use. Seeing people learn and grow makes me happy. This is a mentoring account, so if you have questions, just tag me 😁

f you want to get an idea, it's a lot like what the DLSS 5 demos look like but with way more hallucination. as you add more refined details you're adding more specific intent to your work and rather than ironing our specificity you're really just introducing more things for the AI to misinterpret. demos like this only really work for simple shapes cause you're not developing the work to a high enough level where your artwork will naturally be at a high enough level compared to whatever "more polished" result the AI gives you in return.

@IsThisA3DModel whenever I see stuff like this, it's always simple shapes and objects, I wanna see how it handles a huge complex scene or some crazy weird looking monster, see if it can figure it all out or if it just moulds everything together, it'll still look ass regardless

maybe you cant tell, but DLSS 5 looks awful. the only ones doing artists a disservice are guys who keep saying that your work will suffer unless you "learn" to slap bad GenAI filters on it. everyone saw how bad it looks. quit trying to pressure people to neuter their potential

This is real-time.. The debate about Nvidia's latest neural rendering tech is ongoing. One side sees the potential of the technology to bridge the gap across the uncanny valley, to give us a much less rigid creative process than a to b to c.. the other side shouts "slop" and tries to shame any creative who dares to explore this new technology, any chance they get. Meanwhile, I'm over here saying "I told you so".. Gen Ai is here to stay, its becoming real-time and Nvidia now has the "RTX on" for AI which I've been talking about for years. We need creatives to help shape meaningful tools that combine this tech with much more granular creative control.. with tools where you as an artist see your creative thumbprint from beginning to end in the parts of the work that matters the most to you. If you're shaming artists or storytellers who embrace these tools, you're doing them a disservice in my opinion. If they don't learn to utilize these tools and workflows, to make them their own and to shape them, others will. There's no way this tech won't be a huge part of the creative industry and of the way we tell stories. It's happening around us as we speak. That said, at the core of it, do what makes you happy and create in any way you like. Don't let people tell you that "you can't do this" or "you have to do it like this".

@BlackBlazeE he's been posting this same tech demo for like 3 years. it's sunk cost fallacy. he'd have to admit the most public display of the thing he's been promoting and encouraging new artists to do for 3 years was a massive disaster

I don't care if people call it AI slop. Vibe coding games is fun. It's become my main hobby now, and no one can take that away from me.
