It was terrifying today. Our children, all of us adults- we are trаumatized. We will never forget what we are being forced to live through because of russіa. It hurts beyond words to see what our children are going through. No child should ever have to experience this. This is Vinnytsia today, during a russiаn attаck.

We keep saying that Russia is returning to the USSR, but older Russians who remember the Soviet era say it’s much worse! The following comes from 80-year-old Nikolay Travkin, a former Soviet/Russian politician: “All of this existed in the USSR too. Censorship, bans on anything not approved from above, organized condemnation of dissenters in work collectives, and “psychiatric hospitals.” It was all there… but not as ornate, aggressive, or even ceremonious as it is now. The Speaker of the Duma proudly reports dozens of new restrictive laws that make life harder for voters. Informers are presented as models of patriotism and examples for children and youth. State propagandists seem to have lost all restraint in claiming that black is white, and vice versa. Turning on the TV is dangerous — spittle, inciting hatred toward those “who are not with us,” literally flies through the screen. Apathy and despair overwhelm even optimists. Among doctors, psychiatrists have become the most in-demand, and there’s a severe shortage of them…”

🧵 Last week I wrapped up filming my latest documentary project for @EastwestFM on how Ukrainian Police are actually out fighting on the frontlines of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. Consider reposting if you find it interesting—I am also open to talking with anyone interested about the experiences further. This has been a journey of half a year or more. Here is a bit of a reflection/recap:

I don't know where to begin, I'm a little shocked by how different families are. My wife and I are very sincere people, and everything is fine with us, really, everything is fine. Recently, I got into trouble and I need an operation to walk well, but it costs money, not a huge amount, $700, considering that we are ready to bring her back. I don't really have any relatives, and my wife decided to help as much as she could, and her entire family sent her away and turned their backs. I can't say I'm surprised, but I'm shocked how someone can treat loved ones so indifferently. I wish you don't have to go through this and be united.

Meet Artem — one of the very few russians actually worth your attention. He helped eliminate 150+ russian invaders. A 19-year-old serviceman in the russian army who chose a different path. For nearly three months, he secretly passed precise intelligence to Ukrainian forces — enemy positions, equipment, and movements. The result: 150+ occupiers eliminated, dozens wounded, and multiple UAV crews, mortars, MLRS, and tanks destroyed. He also warned about incoming strikes — saving Ukrainian lives. When suspicion grew, he still managed to escape and surrender. Now, he plans to join the Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK).

I’ve been in the public eye since the first days after crossing into Ukraine. And through all of it, I made a decision, to keep one part of my life completely private. I never spoke about who I’m dating. I never spoke about my sexuality. Not once. Because I didn’t think it should matter. And because, if I’m honest, I was afraid that if I said it out loud… it might cost the people around me the support they need to survive. But war strips things down to the truth. The deeper I go into this, the more I understand something I can’t ignore anymore, there is a real chance I don’t make it out of this alive. And if that’s the reality, then I don’t want to leave this world having never said who I am. There’s been a lot said about me already. People speculating. People deciding for me. Saying I’m gay. Saying I sleep around with male soldiers. None of that is true. So here it is. No rumours. No guessing. I am not gay. I am not straight. I am pansexual. I don’t see people through gender. I never have. It’s always been about connection, something deeper, something harder to explain, something that either exists or it doesn’t. And the truth is… I’ve never felt like I belonged under any label. I’ve never been the kind of person to put #LGBTQ in my bio or wear it as something that defines me. But if “pansexual” is the word that explains a part of me, then I understand that it places me somewhere in that space....whether I’ve claimed it before or not. I’ve said before that I’m autistic. But I’ve never explained what that actually means for me. For me, it means connection doesn’t happen quickly. It isn’t casual. It isn’t surface level. It takes time, safety, and something real. I don’t like being touched by strangers. I don’t open up easily. I don’t let people in unless I truly trust them and that kind of trust is rare. So for me, relationships aren’t simple. They never have been. They are slow, intentional, and deeply felt. Something that is nearly impossible to make time for in war. Which is why so much of what’s been said about me has never made sense. I know this post might cost me support. I know there will be people who walk away because they don’t understand this, or don’t want to. But this is the truth. This is me. It always has been. And I don’t want to spend whatever time I have left hiding it just to be easier for other people. I just want to live, as myself, while I still can in #Ukraine.
