Either the Vex email came from people mad at Kodiak for saying dumbcrap about Camila's dead family in which case I don't think Vex really did anything specific, everything else was gonna happen regardless of what she did. Or it's what I think, sent by Kodiak cause he knew she'd be an idiot and he could garner sympathy off a blatantly fake story.
