This show was so far above most of its contemporaries artistically so of course it couldn’t last on American TV. They sure do like merchandising it though.
Had such a profound effect on me growing up & was obsessed with it for years, probably seen every episode at least 5 times.

The Soul Eater dub has some weird quirks of its time. I wonder how much of that would be retained if there was a new anime dubbed today. Would Shibusen still be called DWMA or would Shinigami-sama still be Lord Death? They definitely wouldn't call Crona by male pronouns.

Para la gente que piden un remake a Soul Eater, solo les diré una cosa:
No esperen nada impresionante a nivel visual, porque la versión de 2008 es prácticamente un milagro de lo sumamente bien que se ve: sakuga, ángulos de cámara, o incluso en momentos de animación limitada.

twitter（X)の自動翻訳によって、日本の表現の自由は、諸外国では不可能なレベルであることがようやく知れ渡ってきた。日本は赤松先生みたいな、作家であり政治活動もしてくださってる方のご尽力もあって、かなり漫画やアニメの表現が広い。
首ももげるし、女児の腕も逆パカするし、アダルト表現もかなり寛容である。そして新たな性癖の開拓も常に最先端を走り続けているように思う。
もちろん、そういった表現は良くないとか、子供にみせるべきではないとか意見もまた自由であるべきだけど、国や行政が表現を規制して、その先がどれだけ酷いかを各国のツイートを通して見ると、本当に今をもっと大事にしていかないとと思います。
なぜなら、国家や行政による「表現の規制」は、常に「子供の保護」や「公序良俗」といった、誰も反対しづらい「正義」の皮を被って規制は始まり、気がつけばそれは「特定の者による気に入らないものをいくらでも消す権利」となるからです。
最初は「一部の極端で過激な表現」だけがターゲットにされているように見えても、一度権力側に『どこまで描いていいか線を引く権利』を与えてしまえば、その基準は必ず恣意的に拡大していきます。
例えば、ホラー作品の恐怖を際立たせる残酷な描写や、薬物や裏社会の恐ろしさをフィクションとして生々しく描くような、社会の影や科学的な事象を題材にした作品群でさえも、「不適切である」の一言で本来あるべきものを伝えることもできなくなって、お花畑なものしか出せなくなるわけです。実際に某ハリウッド映画ではモンスター映画なのにかじられるシーンが画面外になったり、血がでないとか、不自然極まりない感じになって酷評されていたのは周知の話ですし・・・。
なので、日本の表現はこの混沌こそが自由の土壌なので、クリエイターだけでなく、消費者もみんなで大事に思っておいていただければ・・・と思うわけです。
