I say it all the time, but the people at the center of these stories are very real. I'm real. Alissa was real. My mother was real. My aunt was real. My cousin is real. His other victims are still very, very real, and there are many of them.
You can study it, you can even be in the field, but until you're a family member at the mercy of the justice system, you will never understand & that is a blessing. Yes, I'm tired. But I'm inspired. There's still so much work to do to make this a better space for families.
