@edtechmathteach Yes to weather, and I think that classes are also going through another cycle of interpersonal “storming” after the winter break. We expect needing to norm behavior in September, but get frustrated when we have to re-address/norm in February.

I had a teacher friend say that Feb is always the worst month for people in education. I agree now that I think on it. Feb has always been discouraging, but why? Anyone have theories on why that is? My theory is the weather and the huge gap between breaks.

In today's Academic Advancement I talked about technical writing and decoding patterns using a simple crochet pattern for a pumpkin. It filled my heart to work with students in this way and dig into the amazing extended learning opportunities at @SVVSDLaunchED. #stvrainstorm

@milobo He has a great YouTube channel with almost daily shorts (Ryan, not Marcus Aurelius😂). I like to listen to him over coffee in the morning.

@mcdermid His story was a powerful one for sure- and I wasn't ready to need tissues to watch the board meeting last night! I heard this morning that Harvard had an acceptance rate of 3.43% for next year's entering class.

Everyone should go back to the recording of tonight's board meeting and listen to Jose share his story. Such a powerful story of strength, resilience, family, and the impact of teachers on our students. #StVrainStorm

Tonight @svvsdsupt and our Board recognized ⁦@SkylineFalcons⁩ senior, Jose Quiroz Yanez for his full-ride scholarship to Harvard! His powerful story about family, teachers, and pursuing your dreams inspired all of us. We are proud of you, Jose! ⁦@SVVSDdeputy

Kerri is one of the finest, most thoughtful, caring and engaging educators I have ever had the honor of working with! So glad to have her @SVVSDLaunchED working with us to keep the #StVrainStorm going strong this year!

Kerri Courtney has been a pivotal part of the #StVrainStorm for 11 years! As a teacher in @SVVSDLaunchED, her classroom looks a bit different this year. Whether it’s from a converted shed in her back yard, or a traditional classroom, Kerri goes beyond! stvra.in/launchedstory

@ms_carotenuto I just abandoned a book 3/4 of the way through. I didn't like the characters anymore, it was a memoir(ish) that got really romanticized about moving to another country, and I got to a point where I just couldn't dig into the life they were writing about.

Quick poll: do you finish a book you’re not enjoying bc if you start something, you finish it. OR do you put it down forever and start a new one? #frederickreads #svvsdlearns

Reading the opening of one of my favorite books for #ReadAcrossAmericaDay! Set in my favorite city, Barcelona, it is a beautiful book. The opening ends with this: "...few things leave a deeper mark on a reader than the first book that finds its way into his heart..." 1/2🧵

"Those first images, the echo of words we think we have left behind, accompany us throughout our lives and sculpt a palace in our memory to which, sooner or later- no matter how many books we read, how many worlds we discover, or how much we learn or forget- we will return."🧵
