The Journal of Human Resources is a leading journal in empirical microeconomics, with a focus on policy-relevant research.

We know that access to mental health care — especially for at-risk youth — reduces crime and recidivism. But how do we increase access to & take-up of care? What policy levers should we pull? School-based mental health services are one option, but there is remarkably little evidence on the impacts of these programs, especially on behaviors like violence and criminal justice involvement. So, I was very excited to see this study, which recently came out in @J_HumanResource, using rich data from Minnesota, including juvenile justice records(!). The punchline? Promising, but we definitely need more work in this space. We need to figure this out! Check out my interview with Ezra Golberstein for more.
