Mercury is needed to craft gold bars in Crimson Desert. This is how you get Mercury. You have to freeze it first. I've Beloth's Helmet which comes with freeze ability. Press L2 + R2 to freeze mercury with helmet ability and then pick it all up - 45 pieces!
