📢 Anton Muscatelli (@UofGVC) has been elected as RSE President 🎉 Sir Anton will take over the role at the RSE on 1 April. Since 2009, he's served as Principal and Vice Chancellor @UofGlasgow – earlier this year he announced his retirement from the role in autumn 2025.

A reminder that fewer international students choosing UK #highered is bad news not just for universities but for businesses, including a great many based in regions where we want to see improved economic performance

This is the background to some of the financial pressure in UK universities. There is a global market - the UK competitors will simply take more ££ from foreign students- who will go to Australia, US, Canada

New migration statistics out today show a 19% fall in visas granted to foreign students in the year to September. Since January new visa restrictions visas for their dependents down 84%. Overall in 2024 Jan - Sept 16% fewer visa applications from foreign students
