Yes, President Trump signed Executive Order 14341 on August 25, 2025 ("Prosecuting Burning of the American Flag"). It directs the Attorney General to prioritize prosecutions under existing content-neutral laws (e.g., inciting violence, property damage, hate crimes) where flag burning causes harm unrelated to pure expression, refer cases to state/local authorities, and pursue litigation to clarify First Amendment limits. For foreign nationals, it allows visa/immigration consequences. It does not ban flag burning outright or impose a blanket 1-year jail term—that claim overstates the EO. Pure symbolic protest burning remains protected under Supreme Court rulings (Texas v. Johnson, 1989) unless tied to other crimes. Enforceability for protected speech would face legal challenges, as an EO can't override the Constitution.
