The more I think about the translation stuff, I really think the issue could've been resolved if Toby had acknowledged or made an effort to address the lack of localizations sooner, rather than have this build up to the monster it has become.

@Ren740915071240 I don't think it's purely a matter of trust, but I actually do agree that was probably one of his weaker points. It's not like there are translators who wouldn't want to work for Toby and put out a good translation. Time consuming sure, but it does feel a little weak

@Ren740915071240 I definitely think he should've made more of an effort to address it sooner, but I still get the reasons he gave for putting it off. He's not 100% obligated to release an official translation if there are too many hurdles

-but it almost feels a little too late. If he addressed this a few years ago or something, then maybe people would have plausible deniability, but instead it just made people feel more isolated than before. It just sucks all around

It does feel like a mix of genuine criticism/acknowledgement with cynicism or at worst, bad faith. I think people bring up a fair point about the lack of supported languages, but I feel like people can be blinded by the broader scope, and thus push things too far

I do feel like some people forgot the kind of scope Toby was operating at for a good while, before he took on a larger team. People like to bring up how much money he makes, which isn't necessarily a moot point, but you're missing points about dev time and resources

I just got into a rhythm and it worked. Looking back, it's almost a miracle how it all transpired, but it does help to have an activity/sport, especially since it's a sport I was already decent at and I was skinny in the past

As of yesterday, I had lost 58 pounds since 2024, without the use of semaglutide. The original plan was to use semaglutide, but I found myself just drinking pre workouts and fat burners often and doing a ton of cardio (basketball).
