@PLA_Past1927 @Combination_K The level of training was different among Chinese units. PLA during the 1945-1949 period put a lot of emphasis on adapting new tactics in an environment with higher volumes of fire compared to their prior experiences, yet some units learned, some didn’t.

"Human waves" did not exist as we know them and especially at Chosin, not even the UN forces called these human waves. Instead basic usage of night attacks, clever use of micro-terrain, and effective usage of light mortars and grenades. Human waves came about largely from anecdotes and a very inflammatory press during the war and after.

Chinese infantry surge across frozen ridgelines in human wave attacks, while Marines hold defensive positions with rifles, machine guns, and M26 Pershing tanks. Overhead, F4U Corsairs roar in to deliver vital close air support to Marines fighting against overwhelming odds. One of the greatest stands in Marine Corps history. Digitally restored, enhanced, and presented with sound design to recreate how these moments may have looked and sounded at the time.

USMC EX-52 Lower Torso Armor
400 examples were sent to Korea for testing in November of 1952. I have not been able to find the test report but the production M53 lower torso armor is significantly different to this prototype.
