This is not a fun radar loop to look at! Already one large tornado confirmed in Arkansas, and the evening/night is just getting started for all those in the path of this large storm system.
Brian LaMarre@blamarre

A train of tornadic thunderstorms pushing over eastern Arkansas this evening on the southern edge of a line of severe storms stretching northward over portions of Tennessee, Missouri, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. A deadly weather event in progress. #tornadooutbreak

One of the most common questions we get at the NWS is “What is the difference between a Watch and a Warning?”. Hopefully this video helps explain the two. Thanks @TarrantCountyTX for the partnership! ⛈️
Tarrant County@TarrantCountyTX

Do you know the difference between a Weather Watch and a Weather Warning? Understanding the difference is essential for your safety, find out the answer from the experts at the National Weather Service. @nwsfortworth

This morning's damaging thunderstorm wind event reminds us peak severe weather season is nearly here. My family and I were already taking cover when ~70 mph winds hit our house this AM. 70+ mph winds are equivalent to an EF-0 tornado, & you should take cover the same way #dfwwx
NWS Fort Worth@NWSFortWorth

A damage survey team has confirmed a brief EF-1 tornado 🌪️ occurred early this morning. Peak winds are estimated at 110 mph with a length of 0.42 miles. Read more at forecast.weather.gov/product.php?si… Additional surveys will be conducted tomorrow in other areas that received damage. #dfwwx

A near flawless balloon launch from a skilled meteorologist in winds gusting near 50 mph 👏 The data from this balloon will collect critical atmospheric measurements to help improve weather model accuracy.
NWS Fort Worth@NWSFortWorth

A lesser known challenge we have on windy days... launching the balloon in 50 mph wind gusts! 🎈👀 Successful? Yes. Graceful? We'll let you decide. (Note: no meteorologists were blown away in the making of this video.😉) #dfwwx #txwx #BalloonWrangling

Our office suddenly lost a great man last week, and not gonna lie, we are still pretty shocked at his loss 💔 Our ESA, Charles, was a great friend to everyone, a leader by example, easily made everyone laugh, and influenced so many. His loss leaves a huge hole in this world.
