My career in journalism began in Lebanon in 2002. I was driven by one question: how is global foreign policy really made in Washington, D.C.? Years of reporting and anchoring later, that ambition has become reality. At 41, I take on the role of Washington Bureau Chief. Journalism isn’t about who speaks first anymore. It’s about who explains best. There is a lot of noise out there. We need integrity and empathy to guide the narratives with clarity. The Middle East deserves better storytellers. For decades, coverage of the region has been filtered through fear, caricature, and outdated frames. Our duty is to break that. Our duty is to treat the audience with respect. Treat the subject with nuance. Global challenges aren’t just policy problems; they’re communication failures waiting for someone to translate complexity into common ground to the right audience. I have been doing that job. As Lebanese-American, I bring a bilingual, human-centered approach to policy journalism, informed by a deep understanding of Arab culture and American political history, and shaped by a career spent challenging conventional narratives across both worlds. This role can’t be successful in isolation. It requires a coordinated effort, strong team support, the right resources, and full alignment with MBN.

A senior White House official working closely with the National Security Council told MBN’s Washington Bureau Chief Joe Kawly that internal cost breakdowns show ships and aircraft operations in the Iran campaign are running approximately $59.4 million per day, a figure that covers fuel, crew and maintenance but excludes munitions and troop deployments. The official said the widely reported $1 billion-a-day estimate for the overall operation is likely to understate the accumulated cost over the coming weeks, because it does not yet fully account for interceptor missiles or major equipment losses, including an ongoing U.S. assessment of damage to a $1.1 billion AN/FPS-132 early-warning radar at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, struck in the Iranian missile. “Operation against Iran will be costing more each week than some entire weapons programs,” the official said.
