Like many of my constituents, animal welfare is something that I care deeply about. This is what I’ve done to promote animal welfare as your MP 🐾

I’ve signed an Early Day Motion calling on the Government to include the ceramics industry within the Supercharger scheme. The news that Denby Pottery is appointing administrators is deeply concerning, and I will do all I can to urgently secure support for this vital business.

Yesterday on the Transport Select Committee I urged the Government to do more to support the viability of the second hand market for electric vehicles, which is vital for reducing our carbon emissions and securing more stable costs for drivers.

This English Tourism Week (15–24 March 2026), I had the honour of attending an event organised by Visit Peak District & Derbyshire to celebrate the people, places and businesses that power our local visitor economy.

📣 New Money for Flood Defences in Derbyshire Dales The Environment Agency has announced that projects in Derbyshire Dales are to benefit from over £800,000 of new funding for flood defences. This funding will help protect homes and businesses across Derbyshire Dales.

The live band, set design, costumes, singing, lighting, choreography, stage management, directing, and acting were all fantastic. Huge congratulations to the cast and crew for putting together a first class production.

Is Grease still the word? The answer is a resounding yes! Last week, Bakewell’s Medway Centre was transformed into Rydell Highl, and Bakewell Youth Theatre’s performance of ‘Grease’ gave the audience what they came for: slicked back hair, catchy songs, and a slice of 1950s.

Yesterday, I raised the case of Rob, a pensioner who has been left without central heating since the 5th of March, with the Minister for Energy Consumers. I was pleased that the Minister reiterated that the Government is committed to properly regulating the heating oil industry.

Today the Government announced £53 million to help low-income households in rural areas with heating oil costs. Alongside this support the Government will explore ways to better protect the 750,000 people in England who use heating oil, including over 4,000 in Derbyshire Dales.

At Environmental Audit Committee, I asked whether caps on SFI will enable sufficient investment into nature-friendly farming. I welcome recent steps to simplify SFI, but it is important that farmers continue to get the backing they need to invest in nature-friendly farming.

Today, Monday 12th March 2026, marks the official launch of National Bakewell Pudding Day at @theoldoriginalbakewellpuddingshop – the widely recognised birthplace of the celebrated Bakewell Pudding.

There are more than 4,000 households in Derbyshire Dales who use heating oil. These households already faced higher bills and have seen their costs more than double since the conflict with Iran started. Complete the heating oil survey at getcampaigning.co.uk/lrrg/s/heating…
