Today on Skid Row we saw a human with a third of his neck cut off, dogs used for breeding, a dog passed out in a carriage with empty vodka bottles, an SRO filled with dogs and cat feces, a dog eating trash, countless people doing drugs and a starving dog.

There is a special place in hell for the people who do this, and the politicians who indulge this.

Today we witnessed the epitome of neglect. Dozens of dogs, all covered in flies, all dirty, scarred, thirsty, hungry. Other homeless people were pleading for us to take the dogs away from the abusers and breeders. People had guns. We were able to rescue two. Many remain.

I am receiving so many messages and comments on how people can help. It's amazing. I encourage everybody to follow animal rescuers that rescue street dogs. Ask to go with them. Volunteer. See it all for yourself. Everything changes when you see this firsthand.

If you saw a video of a stray dog eating trash on the streets, you would probably assume it’s a Third World country. But this video was taken two days ago on Skid Row in Los Angeles.

This is one of over 20 dogs in one alley fighting for survival in Watts. He’s trying to chew and claw his way out.
