The distinction is clearer than day.
An honorarium is neither by compulsion nor negotiated. It is given freely as an amount or a value decided voluntarily and exclusively by the giver. It is a gift.
A school fee is not an honorarium.
A music/word minister's charge (pay me 1 million naira to come sing/preach, like the Bynums of this world are reputed for) is not an honorarium.
On this, we know who is being intellectually dishonest.
Also. This distinction is critical because I don't know anyone who has said ministers should not be given money at all. The discourse is precisely around this distinction between a freewill gift (honorarium) and a required, requested, charge.
Jesus, who said the labourer is worthy of his wages, said so to authorize ministers to accept free gifts, not to charge a fee. Because in the same text, the exact same text, He said Freely you have received, freely give.
And if you think there's no difference between a school and this matter, you're being wilfully blind. Because, even in the days of Jesus, there was a clear distinction between a rabbinic school and the Jewish synagogue services.
See: if a music minister runs a music institute (school), for instance, that's comparative to an Apostle running a school of ministry. And in both cases, fees are standard. If fees are waived in a school, that's an exception, and it is usually called a scholarship.
These things are not hard, so the truth is, we all know what we are doing.
