Hey guys, decided to start a short tweet series on common “startup pains” I’ve repeatedly encountered while working with early-stage companies (at @TribeAdvisors and others). Here is first one: Startup Pain #1: Decision Paralysis One of the most common pains I see in startups isn’t lack of talent or ideas. It’s decision paralysis disguised as optionality. After momentum or funding, everything becomes “possible”: • more hires • more initiatives • more experiments But without a clear decision framework, capital alone doesn’t (and can't) create speed. --> It creates noise. What helps teams break out of this: – Forcing every initiative to answer one question: what problem does this solve now? – Limiting active priorities (3 max) and killing the rest (even good ideas). – Evaluating decisions through opportunity cost, not gut feeling. The startups that scale best don’t do more. They decide faster, and say no more often.

I fucked up… in tradfi, you’re taught not to give too much alpha before a contract is signed. so clients don’t take your work and walk away. that logic made its way into Web3. a lot of agencies try to close a deal first, and explain their value later. that’s not how I want to run @tribeadvisors we’re not service providers. we’re more than that. if someone can’t see how you think upfront, why would they trust you long term? that’s why we started doing free audits. 👉one hour with a founder. 👉we talk through their situation. 👉they leave with a document they can use, with or without us. if they don’t want to work with us after that, it doesn’t mean the value isn’t there. it just means the timing isn’t right. and when it is, I know we’ll work together.

@psykoin_ Yeah, for sure. You only start learning what’s important once you’re building your own project.

This is the most common case, not only in startups but everywhere: people confuse movement with progress. It is a bad habit derived from the boss's surveillance. It reminds me of one of the first lessons I learned when I started working: "whatever you do, carry something in your hand."

startup pain #2: confusing activity with progress busy doesn't mean progress. most startups are sprinting… straight off a cliff one of the most expensive mistakes I see in startups is pretending to be in movement teams are busy: • shipping features • posting content • announcing partnerships • running experiments but nothing changes cause there is no clear definition of progress. --> how to fix it: • define max 3 outcomes that actually move the business • map every outcome possible • review progress based on results and not activity (weekly) progress is not how much you do it’s how much closer you are to the next inflexion point

It’s been crazy to see all the creativity coming from this community and personally I love the 1/1 art pieces featuring community members and I’m biased but my flightless brother @DegenFigster killed on this comic cover 🔥🔥 I’d love to see this bird making more of these 💚
DegenFigster@DegenFigster

You know him as the Owl. I know him as my bird from another mother. I may or may not start doing comic covers highlighting the biggest @neukoai supporters and chads. The one and only @satoshi_owl is fully unleashed Hoot 🦉

Same product. Same tech. 5× valuation. How? During my VC years, I saw a startup with insane tech. They built vertical greenhouses: 1m² footprint, multiple layers, x5–x10 plant yield on avg. Still couldn’t raise. Then the founder switched crops. Same tech. Same product. But cannabis instead of tomatoes. Cash flow exploded. Investors started chasing. Valuation x5, and he began turning some of them down. Tech didn’t unlock value. How it was used did.
