Africa’s healthcare education needs a radical rethink: -> 25% of the world’s disease burden. -> 3% of the global health workforce. -> 6.1 million health workers short by 2030. If we’re going to solve this, it starts with how we train our health workforce.

@KAsclepius Of course, but it's also has a good trend. The same report shows cancer mortality has dropped by 34% since 1991. But the point I made in my article, was mortality only drops if people actually show up for treatment. That’s why we need to increase trust hospitals and all.

While the biology of Lead-Time Bias explains the original tweet, I think medical nihilism is what’s actually killing us. We hit a historic 70% cancer survival milestone this month, but science can't cure a patient it never sees. Is your pastor the key to early detection? 🤔 x.com/Zeeskylaw/stat…

This is a classic example of Lead-Time Bias. They spend years undiagnosed because the organs have high reserves. Diagnosis often happens only when the tumor hits a critical mass and they go check out a symptom. Per the ACS 2026 Report (released Jan 13): The 5-year survival rate for all cancers just hit 70% for the first time, up from 49% in the 70s.
