If you feel like the weekend is already too short, it’s about to get even shorter. Daylight Saving Time begins this weekend, with clocks moving forward one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday. The shift, which happens during the warmer months, is intended to create more evening daylight. Washington state lawmakers passed a law in 2019 to adopt permanent daylight saving time, but the change still requires approval from Congress. That approval has not happened. Many people living in Seattle say looking forward to longer, brighter days helps them through Washington state's darker winter months. Just this week, British Columbia announced an official end to time changes, meaning B.C. will adopt daylight saving time year-round starting this Sunday.
