I’ve long heard people say “therapy” is one of the biggest use cases of AI art. I really didn’t get this at first. But now I understand - there’s something meditative about making and iterating on content at the end of a long day. Many people do this and just don’t post it!

I dream of a web without ads. It shouldn't be like this. I know all of the arguments for why it is like this, but none of them makes the experience of ads less intrusive or less bothersome. The internet largely does not have the user's interests at heart.

@vitrupo A future of 10 yr olds “doing quantum physics” is possible (sort of). I’ve taught K-1 kids coding fundamentals from day 1 as a first layer of “scaffolding.” I’ve gradually increased critical thinking in K-8 kids. Scaffolding + building conduits in the brain takes time, layers.

Sal Khan says the future classroom will produce 10-year-olds doing quantum physics. An invisible AI assistant will guide students and nudge teachers, helping them connect at the right moment. The same tech that fuels addictive behavior could become a quiet moral partner - watching, listening, redirecting. “You've been on your phone too long too.”

Had the wildest Zoom call last week with a celebrity about her AI problems. Her head of commerce had been using AI to write product descriptions, and it was going terribly. The director told her the tools “just aren’t good enough” and that they needed to hire someone instead. I told her flat-out: that’s not the AI’s fault. That’s the employee's (and maybe even hers for not knowing how to fix it). Turns out the employee gave it ONE example. Described the company in TWO sentences. Didn’t even describe the audience. Used her free ChatGPT account. I pulled up an 18-page SOP we use to write in my own voice. I showed her how to build a custom GPT for brand tone for the whole team. I told her I prefer Claude for writing, that I often use multiple tools at once. Her mind was blown with the demo, and she quickly realized her employee was underusing AI. A lot of people think the AI “doesn’t work.” IT WORKS. You’re just using it like Google. If your AI outputs (esp for something as easy as product descriptions) are mediocre, that’s more likely a mirror on your prompt. Most people don’t know how BAD they are at prompting until someone else shows them. Stop blaming the system. Benchmark your inputs and literally overwhelm the model with clarity and specificity and intent and see what happens.

@Jayyanginspires Saying ‘nothing’ happened is just not correct. There are millions of young people today teaching themselves skills online. Robotics, Editing, Gamedev, SaaS, physics, etc. The effect is already massive and will only keep growing.

Information is abundant, it's desire that's scarce.

Just experienced the earthquake in Bangkok. (Happened 4 hours ago but still aware of aftershock onward.) I was working at the Book Expo at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center when the ground beneath us trembled—no alarms, no announcements, just a sudden shift in reality. For a moment, we were all frozen in confusion. Then, one by one, we realized what was happening. Whispers turned into urgency, and we evacuated the hall, spilling out into the open air. For about 20 minutes, the internet was jammed, connections cut off. The first thing I did when it was back was inform my family. Now, I’m resting at my senior friend's house, safe for the time being. My car is parked at the MRT lot, and home is nearly 32 km away—I’m not sure when I’ll get there, but I’m grateful to be okay. Thank you, Tyler @tylerdurden88, for checking in. And I’m relieved that most of my Thai #MocaFam and #SandFam are safe. Please, everyone, stay alert, listen to the news, and take care of one another.
