Post Harvest Training. Training was conducted by Agritex officer resident in the ward .The aim of the training was to minimize losses after the harvest due to poor handling and storage.

Yesterday we were at Chimedza Primary School in Gutu where we donated 29 ready-to-plant trees as part of our contribution to the national aforestation effort. The species included Kenyan Croton, Mexican Ash, Brazilian Paper, Natal Mahogany and Avocado.

Animals and birds also feed on these fruits, with the Mushavhi berries being a juicy meal for birds. In many areas, the Muchakata tree is treated with mystic reverence, and this has aided conservation. Their dried seeds are edible, nutritious nuts. #conservation

These indigenous fruit trees are precious. In many areas, traditional leaders can fine you heavily if you cut them down. Muchakata, Mushavhi and Mutamba fruits help to fight extreme hunger especially in times of droughts.
