High achieving athletes are able to filter out the negative noise and distractions. They intentionally focus on the thoughts, feelings, and actions that help them perform at their best and produce positive results.

A team is headed toward success when its best players: 1) Are trustworthy; 2) Are the team’s hardest workers; 3) Are physically & mentally tough; 4) Want to be coached and pushed to improve; 5) Are unselfish; and 6) Make their teammates better.

Talent alone is never enough. When talent meets talent, it’s about character, preparation, self-discipline. It’s all about who wants it the most and has paid the price for greatness.

Take complete control of your attitude, competitiveness, and toughness. Don’t set limits on yourself. There is always more you can achieve.

Building a team takes hard work & patience. There are no shortcuts. Players must understand & trust the process. They must be mentally tough, confident & compete every day. It requires repeating drills until good habits are established & always putting the team first and foremost

Success favors the teams that have the most mental toughness. They play through mistakes. They're resilient. They stay united. They believe in themselves, their teammates, their coaches, and they also trust the process.

High achievers take ownership of their thoughts. They understand that their mind simply becomes what you tell it the most. How you think about yourself is what you become. High performers don’t hope their thinking will bring success. They make their thinking positive & strong.

The foundation of teamwork is built on respect & trust. Players must earn the trust of their coaches & coaches must earn the trust of their players. It’s the mutual trust between players & coaches that makes great teams. They stay united and committed to their shared vision.

There are no shortcuts to success. You must have the drive, the self-discipline & the grit to push yourself to become what you are not. Learn how to embrace challenges & realize they are a test of your mental toughness. Stay strong & never stop believing in yourself & your dreams

Your motivation gets you started. Understanding what above-the-line behaviors look like and feel like helps you take another step. Turning those above-the-line behaviors into habits of greatness produce champions.

High achieving athletes realize they must always be improving their sport skills. Striving for excellence becomes part of their daily routine. It requires self-discipline, sacrifice & repetition of actual live reps. It’s giving a little bit more than we think that we can give.

High achievers demonstrate the following 3 attributes every day: 1) how much they care about their team and their teammates; 2) how hard they work and compete; and 3) how well they execute and keep improving.

If you are truly committed to becoming the best player that you can be, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Keep things as simple as possible. Too often we spend time worrying about things that we cannot control. Be in the moment. Focus on your attitude, effort, and preparation. Go to practice every day with a plan on how you are going to improve and make the team better.

High achiever athletes gain a deeper understanding of themselves. It begins with self-awareness. When you are self-aware, you understand who you are & why you are playing your sport. You identify goals & pursue them with purpose & passion. You respect your strengths & weaknesses.
