@masonkeith25 @scottpuryear And the Hammons name remains everywhere in Springfield. Parkway, Hall, Tower, Fountains, Student Center, etc. Change is hard and I feel nostalgic tonight, too. But the stadium renaming makes sense and does not disparage his contribution.

@scottpuryear No I get it. He should be honored, especially with JQH renamed as well. But the trust situation made this outcome, for better or worse. The positive here is Springfield is moving in a forward direction which anyone should want, including Mr Hammons

Not a fan of the elimination of any naming tribute to John Q Hammons with the ballpark that he envisioned, and he built, completing his dream for Springfield in 2004. Without that, we wouldn't even have a Springfield Cardinals franchise and Missouri State baseball would probably still be playing at Meador Park. Wouldn't have taken any more effort to call it "John Q. Hammons Field at Route 66 Stadium" and keep that legacy alive while still accomplishing their tribute to such a historic highway. Unless folks in the city just didn't want that. Which if that's the case, really disappointing.

@Drizzy_Dru29 @mizzoucpa Unless you were willing to pay Cody Bellinger a lot more than he got from the Yankees, I don’t see a single free agent outfielder they could’ve signed in the last two classes who would’ve made any sort of a meaningful impact.

@mizzoucpa Your right. He hasn’t spent money to bring in legit offensive help to supplement the roster. Lane Thomas ain’t it. Starling Marte is washed. Isaac Collins was a whiff. This goes back to last season as well. Didn’t make the team better after reaching ALDS.

What do you guys think John Sherman is thinking right now? He’s getting his stadium without a fan vote. He got what he wanted. He didn’t spend any money on the product on the field and now he’s getting what he paid for. I thought he would be different man.

And there’s really nothing they can do about it. You aren’t going to fire the manager or pitching coaches, nor should you. You can’t demote respected, veteran players. You aren’t going to make some enormous trade in late April. They are stuck.

Matt Quatraro can trust no one in the bullpen. Vinnie and Salvy are borderline unplayable right now. Bobby Witt Jr. is staring at 3-1 fastballs right down the middle with runners in scoring position. Just astonishing. This is almost impossible to explain. #Royals

@Kevin_Agee @JoshChavis65 An asshole when necessary. The Royals don’t have that. In 14-15 Ned could be that guy, moose could be that guy, Hos was that guy at times. These guys don’t have that.

This Royals team went to the playoffs in 2024 and then regressed in 2025 and appears to have taken another big step backwards in 2026. If I’m the owner trying to get a city behind a new ballpark, that’s unacceptable to me. I really like Q as a person, but this ain’t working.

One thing I've been thinking about lately is the level of neuroticism among this team. They seem wound so tight. I don't know that I've ever seen a team that presses as much as this team and that stretches back to last season, too. They struggle with expectations. They struggle

@Kevin_Agee Salvy tried to make it a little better today, but I don’t think Q’s comments today helped. Saying “oh Salvy and I talked Friday he knew he wasn’t going to play”…. I mean clearly not

Quatraro says Salvy needs a mental breather, then gets himself ejected for a weird reason. Salvy refutes the claim on social media. Q has always spoken highly of his respect for Salvy. I think there could be some fire-lighting chicanery afoot here. #Royals

@mitchsherman @Ttimmons1980 They aren’t going to put a manager “on notice” 21 games after they agreed to a contract extension with him. That doesn’t make any sense.

@Kevin_Agee I would agree with you… if Salvy hadn’t tweeted that. Salvy isn’t the most active on social media. That wasn’t a coincidence.

@RyanSublett1 Yup, but you can’t have a manager working on a 1-year deal. Gotta extend him or move on. They chose the former. A bad 20-game stretch isn’t going to change their minds unless he gets fired for cause.

@Kevin_Agee Yeah the extension was weird to me. I didn’t feel like anything he did last year warranted an extension. I’ve always felt though that Q was more Sherman’s guy than JJ’s guy

@JDC1169 The Picollo regime fired two hitting coaches last winter and overhauled the organization’s entire pitching development and performance system. They also turn over the roster more than any Royals front office in decades. We’re all frustrated, but let’s not lose sight of facts.
