I haven't heard many people talk about it in relation to the flower. It is traditionally used in funeral and sympathy arrangements as it expresses gratitude toward the deceased, peace, and fond memories. White hydrangeas particularly evoke purity, peace, and sometimes the cycle of life (death and rebirth in some interpretations). In France and other countries, hydrangeas are often planted on graves (especially in spring and summer) they are hardy, bloom for a long time, and add an elegant, lasting touch to the grave. They thus symbolize the love and gratitude of loved ones who come to pay their respects. Note also that Xehanort's mother's dress is purple, like the flowers; it's possible that her name is related to the flower known as the hortensia or hortense. While doing some research yesterday, I looked for connections between myths and this flower, and once again I came across the Arthurian legend about Arthur’s mother, Ygraine. The name contains the word “Graine,” which means “seed.” The name Ygraine, rooted in Celtic origins particularly Welsh ones carries meanings that include sadness or simply grief. This poignant meaning reflects a deep emotional resonance, which may stem from the stories and characters associated with the name throughout literature and history. Ygraine is best known through Arthurian legends, notably as the mother of the legendary hero Arthur. In these tales, she is often portrayed as a tragic figure, embodying themes of love and loss.
