@ryen_white from microsoft research and @chirag_shah from university fo washington published a paper— AI Agents Are Not Enough ✨ here's a tl;dr 👀 ai agents struggled for decades due to limitations in adaptability, scalability, coordination, robustness, and trust. the solution? a new ecosystem with: — agents: specialized for specific tasks. — sims: digital user representations managing preferences and interactions. — assistants: personalized managers coordinating agents and sims for seamless task execution. this layered approach addresses trust, personalization, and usability, paving the way for a scalable and socially acceptable ai future. agents alone aren’t enough, but together with sims and assistants, they just might be.
