@PureRubyDragon No there isn't. It's just typical human arrogance and egoism. I also can't recommend a Doberman at all. They are very hyperactive, clever and full of genetic diseases.

@KillingTea It’s nonsense. I’ve herd people crop Doberman ears so they “don’t get ear infections and are prone to them” while hound dogs ears are literally dragging on the ground and are just as likely to get ear infections. There isn’t any real justification for it

If an accident happens that’s one thing. But docing is a primitive technique that has no modern functionality. Even working dogs

... And we are talking here about a breeding program supervised by professionals. People can't handle typical pets yet wish to get something exotic. It's pure egoism.

If you want to compare it to the fox experiment. Well the first foxes were the most tame out of fox farms. The experiment began more than 70ys ago. Only a small number of each gen are selected for reproduction. Even the most friendly ones are far away from dogs.

Whoever thinks that wild animals that behave tamely are domesticated will also be the person who ignores behavioral disturbances, destruction & aggression against humans or cries out in total surprise when it happens. Domestication takes many many gens of selective breeding.

@Malti_tweets i think the takeaway for these situations is if certain dogs are at risk of injuring themselves like this, it will be a much more painful, complicated and dangerous ordeal if they injure their tail as an adult - in those cases it's preventative medical indication
