Very LA moment:
An acquaintance had a beautiful golden retriever and one night he swore he saw his dog in a random tv commercial
We thought it was funny but dismissed his concerns
Later he finds out that his dog walker had started taking his dog to auditions without telling him and had booked multiple jobs

RIP the one and only Chuck Norris.🕊 I'm so grateful I got to work with this legend, twice.🙏 First in the movie Sidekicks in 1992, and then in 1994 in an episode of his long-running series Walker, Texas Ranger, and he was so generous to me. I was 19, and in the story I was a teenage mother whose baby was stolen. Fun fact: In the final fight sequence, I was supposed to just be a damsel in distress that Chuck saves from the bad guy. But on set, Chuck suggested that my character get in on the action, which was SO much fun. I'll never forget that little gift. And I bet I'm just one of countless others with a story like that.Sending prayers and comfort to those who loved him, including his wonderful brother, Aaron Norris, who I got to know as a director on both of those projects.

Some legends are so much bigger than life, it doesn't seem like theirs should ever end. Rest in peace, my friend. 🙏🙏🙏

Statement by President George W. Bush on Chuck Norris:
"Laura and I are saddened by Chuck Norris’s passing. He was a legend in Texas and beyond. Through his foundation and his example, he made a huge difference in the lives of young people by instilling character and discipline through martial arts. It was said that when Chuck Norris entered a room, he didn’t turn the lights on; he turned the dark off. Laura and I are fortunate to have called him a friend, and we send our sympathy to his family."

Heartbroken to hear of Chuck Norris’s passing. In the early '70s, Elvis introduced my brothers and me to Chuck to add karate — including teaching me how to break boards — to our act in order to put forth a tougher onstage image. He taught us Tang Soo Do and pushed us to be stronger in every way. Tough in training, but one of the kindest souls you could ever know. I’ll always be grateful. Rest well, my friend.

The Afroman Trial.
-Cops raid Afromans house for bullshit reasons.
-Steal money, break his door, fuck his house up.
-No criminality found whatsoever, no charges at all pressed on Afroman.
-Afroman spends the next 3 years making songs that make fun of all the officers involved by name, even using footage of the raid from his own CCTV cameras.
-Songs had titles like "Randy Walters is a son of a bitch" and "Lick Em Low Lisa" accusing one of the officers of being a lesbian and sleeping with the other officers wives.
-During the raid one officer looked like he was about to eat some lemon pound cake sitting on Afromans counter, Afroman made a whole album calling the officer fat.
-The cops get mad and file a lawsuit for defamation.
-Afroman turns up to court in a whole American flag suit.
-Officers performatively mald and cry while listening to the songs really trying to oversell how badly the songs upset them.
-One officer was suing because Afroman made a whole song about him saying he was fucking the officers wife. When the officer was asked if Afroman was really fucking his wife, he said "I don't know". Nuking his own case and establishing that there is a non-zero chance that Afroman might actually be fucking his wife.
-As his only witness for the trial, Afroman brought a deputies EX FUCKING WIFE.
-The jury ruled completely in favour of Afroman.
This entire thing has been a great win for free speech and absolutely fucking hilarious.

something people don’t talk about enough is that AI video generation in China is already enabling a growing, profitable, and surprisingly systematic creative industry.
lately i’ve watched at least ten AI short films on bilibili (china’s youtube) that are genuinely well-written and well-executed.
translating this tweet here:
the AI short drama Huo Qubing exploded online. the production cost was only about 3,000 RMB. three young creators made it in just two days — and it racked up 500 million views. traditional film studios should be nervous: this AI wave could fundamentally disrupt the film industry. viewers say the visuals are “chillingly realistic,” from massive battle scenes to facial expressions and lighting details.
