The Federation of Writers Scotland will celebrate the 2024 Scriever and Makar taking up their posts with words representing the languages and dialects of Scotland. What a way to celebrate World Book Day than holding the event in a local library.

@Damian_Barr Still think all sport on BBC should be moved to it's own radio and tv channel.

Always shocked when football takes the top news slot over news about actual wars. Make it the top sports item, sure. But the top item over all?

#xponorth #HistoricalFiction Mossbawn is the first novel to include the Norse dialect, Norn in its narrative. By 1530 Shetland's most Northerly island, Unst sustained its Norse identity. It is a time of political and religious disruption in Scandinavia and Scotland.

Privileged to announce I am the 2024 recipient of Dorothy Dunnett Centenary Award. Why write a novel about late medieval Unst in Shetland? Why write in Norn, an old Norse dialect? I'll be sharing my research at Oxford University in May, Palermo in June, Shetland Museum in July.

@JimCMackintosh Thank you Jim. Wonderful to research and write in Norn. Good luck with Celtic Connections.
