The Epstein Files repeatedly reference Somaliland, reinforcing its reputation for strong governance, security, and economic potential. In 2011, one associate described Somaliland as “incredible,” contrasting it sharply with the “chaos” in Somalia.
The files highlight proposed investments, including “Somaliland Studios” for film production across Africa and the Arab world, promising oil exploration, and international development inquiries - signaling rare global interest now beginning to bear fruit.
Economically, Somaliland’s private sector - led by Telesom, Dahabshiil, and Daallo Airlines - demonstrates tangible capacity and opportunity. Abdikarim Mohamed Eid, Managing Director of Telesom, said: “I have built a successful business here and want to expand it in the region… But how can I do that if the government is not recognized?”
The files also expose Somalia’s persistent governance failures - weak institutions, corruption, and low public trust - underscoring the contrast with Somaliland.
These revelations show the international community’s growing recognition of Somaliland’s stability, potential, and the crucial role of global partners in supporting its statehood. #EpsteinFiles #Somaliland #HornOfAfrica
