There is still a month left to book onto our course, 'Music Therapy Assessment Tool for Awareness in Disorders of Consciousness (MATADOC) Online Training', on Tuesday 25 – Wednesday 26 February 2025. The course will be led by Dr Wendy Magee (@LadyKeyNote) Professor Music Therapy Program, Temple University, Philadelphia. This interactive two-day online course will teach attendees to use the MATADOC in clinical settings with minimally responsive patients and is suitable for professionals who are working with patient groups with profound brain damage, including end stage dementia, end stage neurological illness and developmental disabilities. Latest #MATADOC research: validation with Coma Recovery Scale (CRS-R). Sat April 1 at the @I_B_I_A DoC Abstract Session. #MATADOC is good companion to CRS-R & identifies auditory responsiveness earlier which could be prognostic. @BeckyocMT presenting.

@musictherapyuk This self prophecy "due to misunderstanding/being undervalued" needs to be turned on its head and the self-pity needs to be dropped. The only way to gain value is to show the benefits that MT/CATs can bring to a client's care/programme and to a team's understanding of clients

We would love to see Music Therapists being a valued member of multidisciplinary teams as the norm - there are sadly still Music Therapists doing incredible work alongside other AHPs but they are not fully integrated into the teams due to misunderstanding or being undervalued.
