In my office, I regularly see severely ill teens with eating disorders that were triggered by a pediatrician telling them to lose weight. The new AAP guidelines promoting bariatric surgery & weight loss medication for children will only create more eating disorders. 💔
Hey @AmerAcadPeds I could not be more embarrassed to be a pediatrician right now. Why are you trying to make all children and teens the same size? Why are you prescribing weight loss interventions to young people without regard for future risk to their health or mental health?
