@Emiturbina1 @halfc0smic Throughout the game and interactions, you get to see more of Byleth's interests and personality, as well as the choices they make in game. Not giving them voice lines was a disservice but let's not pretend Hopes gave them a personality when what it gave was voiced lines.
English

@LegoMebh @halfc0smic Vague answers and the characters saying "Wow you helped me so much by being completely silent thank you so much" aren't personality, it's a way to have the players self insert easily and fee like they're actually having impact over the game, every pokemon game does this

day fifty-one of posting #fe3h memes until i get bored
(i feel the need to address that i don't personally agree with this. my job is to post memes not have opinions)

@Emiturbina1 @halfc0smic The personality was always there. Hopes just gave them an active VA and no character development.
English

@halfc0smic As if this wasn't objectively correct until three hopes gave them a slice of personality

@sandstorm2306 Azure Moon is the route that beats you over the head on how it is meant to be a family tragedy. To ignore that and claim it was always meant to be written as romamce is to play the route with your eyes closed.
English

@sandstorm2306 You've gotta be trolling. The dialogue clearly shows he means his stepmother and that he hesitates in calling her that after learning of her involvement. If you like this ship then that's fine. But it's really odd of you to rewrite the "evidence" you try to provide.
English

@sandstorm2306 Dimitri refers to her as his stepsister many times in AM (even when he thinks he's alone), he only uses "that woman" when he plans on killing her, he never brings it up with El because he assumes she already knows they're stepsiblings. You'd know this is you played the game.
English

@sandstorm2306 There's nothing in AM that even hints she would have become his consort if she had accepted his hand. 1). Because they are stepsiblings (even if you ignore Edel's feelings, Dimitri seeing her as family is always mentioned and 2). She would have essencially been a POW post war.
English

@fetwtconfession Every person l've come
across that likes Byleth never
uses them as a self insert and
he/she does have a personality.
Ironically, Hopes is the game
where they never
develop. It's being a silent protagonist in a fully voiced game that fans dislike, which is a valid critique.
English

@AvelineMelena @fetwtconfession Byleth's personality is the same as in Houses. Only difference is they get voiced lines and never develop as a character in Hopes.
English

@fetwtconfession Playing Three Hopes is the best way to actually like Byleth. They actually have some character there ! And it was refreshing

It pains me that we'll never have mature scenes (and great artistry) like this in children's movies again because the industry has collectively decided kids are suddenly too stupid to consume anything other than Attempt At Frozen #4858654 and CGI reboot slop
Korie Niekrasz@korie_niekrasz
Especially looking at this scene as an adult you realize just how screwed he was.

@KageKaiser @justto1185 @mochipicchu776 Oh, this wasn't meant to be discourse! Just curious and then started replying. I'm sorry for that..
English

@justto1185 @mochipicchu776 @KageKaiser Oh for sure in regards to Sylvain. Doesn't help that Dimitri never explained the meaning behind it.
English

@LegoMebh @mochipicchu776 @KageKaiser I never got the impression it was an out of date gesture, just not an inherently romantic one and an odd choice for a girl. I agree Syl wouldn't tease if Dimi gave a guy a dagger, it's only embarrassing because the gift doesn't suit who Syl refers to as Dimi's "little girlfriend"
English

@justto1185 @mochipicchu776 @KageKaiser To me, it reads as weapon gifting being considered a meaningful gift to someone you cared about in general but an ancient one, so could be considered outdated. It's kinda implied that Dimitri never told him the reason why he gave her the dagger.
English

@justto1185 @mochipicchu776 @KageKaiser Could also be Sylvain making fun of Dimitri giving a dagger to a girl specifically and if El had been a boy, he probably wouldn't have commented on it or teased him.
