They immigrated to one of the biggest national sanctuary cities in the 60s/70s and later moved to Chicago for Black protection. Godfrey knows delineation takes away that protection.

the movie comparison is actually perfect because movies are designed to be experienced at a specific time in a specific environment. albums were too, before streaming turned them into content. midnight drops exist because billboard tracking weeks start at midnight friday. the art got subordinated to the chart math. kendrick understood this with GNX, dropped at noon, and it still became the album of the year. the midnight tradition isnt about the listener experience. its about the spreadsheet
